No love lost as Ambani pats Ambani in Gujarat

Jan. 12: Even as industrialists from various parts of the country converged in Vibrant Gujarat summit here on Wednesday and applauded each other for the billion rupee investments they announced, the maximum applause that the Summit witnessed was when Anil Ambani referred to his elder brother.

Mr Anil Ambani took the stage to announce the investment plans of his company but before doing so he said he was amidst wealth creators of the country.

He first named Ratan Tata and then referred to “my respected elder brother Mukesh Ambani” and greeted him. The crowd applauded endlessly. While Mr Anil Ambani smiled, Mr Mukesh Ambani who was seated in the first row did not express any change in his facial expressions when his brother, Mr Anil Ambani, mentioned him.

The sons of late industrialist Dhirubhai Ambani were engaged in a bitter battle since 2004 over division of the Reliance empire, which was capped by the dispute over sharing and pricing of natural gas from the Krishna-Godavari Basin.
