No one in CPM to quit over poll debacle: Karat
In a face-saving measure , the CPI(M) general secretary Prakash Karat on Monday sought to blame the voter's change of heart towards the Left for the party's crushing defeat in West Bengal and loss in Kerala.
“People had decided there should be a parivartan. We tried to change their mind but could not,” he said.
Putting up a brave and defiant front, the CPI(M) boss , who made no offer to resign owing up responsibility for the party's defeat in Bengal after 34 years, also shot down reports of defeated Bengal CM Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee offering to quit his party post .
“Nobody has resigned or even offered to resign,” he said.
The party politburo met on Monday to anaylse the causes for the poll setback. However, Mr Bhattacharjee did not attend the meeting which analysed the poll results.
