No solution other than JPC: Advani

Alleging that the UPA government was “indifferent” to the corruption problem, the NDA on Thursday demanded that government should allow the Parliament to function by conceding a joint parliamentary committee (JPC) probe into corruption cases including 2G spectrum allocation scam. The NDA claimed the entire Opposition was unanimous in demanding a JPC probe and there was no other solution than the JPC probe.

Speaking on the issue, senior BJP leader and NDA working chairman L.K. Advani said “government is indifferent to the problem of corruption. If the allegation is likely to reach high levels of political office, government becomes absolutely adamant.” He also attacked PM Manmohan Singh for giving clean chits to former telecom minister A. Raja.
Mr Advani claimed 2G scam is “multi-dimensional scam” and keeping this in view only a through probe by the JPC can bring all guilty to book. He was briefing the media after the Parliament got adjourned for the 15th consecutive day over the JPC probe demand.
“The 2G scam is a multi-dimensional scam, undermining democracy itself. For a thorough probe and to bring all guilty to book, nothing short of a JPC can do justice to the task,” Mr Advani said.

Cong calls BJP ‘agent of Maoists’
AGE CORRESPONDENT
New Delhi

Dec. 2: The Congress and the BJP continued attacking at each other on Thursday. While the ruling party accused the BJP-led Opposition of acting as “agents of Maoists”, the saffron party dubbed Congress members as “agents of Quattrocchi”.
“There is a propaganda of the Maoists that Indian Democracy does not reflect the aspirations of the people. The manner in which the Opposition has disrupted Parliament and not allowed the supreme voice of the people to function it takes credence to the propaganda of Maoists. It almost seems as if the Opposition is behaving as their agents,” AICC spokesperson Manish Tewari said.
