Nothing short of JPC acceptable: Jayalalithaa
AIADMK chief Jayalalithaa on Wednesday said the opposition parties would accept nothing short of a JPC to probe the 2G spectrum scam and there was no reason for Tamil Nadu chief minister M. Karunanidhi to oppose it.
"Soon after his resignation, Raja himself said he was not guilty. If he is not guilty, why is Karunanidhi apprehensive of a JPC?," she said in a statement.
On Karunanidhi's remarks that the Public Accounts Committee was more powerful than the JPC as it is headed by Murli Manohar Joshi of the BJP, she wanted to know if Karunanidhi did not trust JPC, headed by a ruling party MP.
"This shows that he does not trust the ruling Congress", she said. She claimed that Raja had resigned only after she used her "weapon" of unconditional support to the UPA government if DMK withdrew support from the Centre on the Raja issue
