Notice to Profs for ‘anti-govt remarks’ on TV
Controversy has been sparked by the state government’s showcause notice to two professors of government colleges for participating in a panel discussion on a local television channel. State higher education minister Bratya Basu on Friday, however, claim-ed that the explanation has been sought from the two professors to know whether they had taken prior permission from the government before taking part in the television programme.
The notices were sent on the basis of a complaint made by a former professor on May 25 that Debasish Sarkar, the professor of Jharg-ram Raj College and Shampa Sen, the professor of Hooghly Mohsin College, were making anti-government comments on the TV show.
