Now, SI assaults woman BMTC conductor in Bengaluru
Barely two days after a woman police officer assaulted an IAS officer’s son, here comes another blot on Bengaluru’s police force.
A police sub-inspector allegedly slapped a woman BMTC conductor, who was on duty, after a petty quarrel on Tuesday.
Sub-Inspector G. Sanjeev Murthy (42), attached to the Seshadripuram police station, was arrested for allegedly assaulting conductor Shailaja and later released on bail.
Murthy, a resident of Govindarajanagar, was on his way to work on his motorbike when he was forced to stop near Jaimuni Rao Circle in Agrahara Dasarahalli when the BMTC bus, plying between Govindarajanagar and Majestic, halted in front of him. He could not move as passengers were busy getting in and out of the bus.
An irritated Murthy started hurling abuses at Shailaja, who was standing at the footboard of the bus. When she objected to the language being used by the Sub-Inspector, he allegedly slapped her, reducing her to tears.
A crowd gathered around Murthy, bundled him into the same bus and took him to the Kamakshipalya police station, where he was arrested. The police produced him before a court, which granted bail, the Kamakshipalya police said.
