NRHM: UP official to face 2 more CBI chargesheets
The CBI is now preparing to file at least two more chargesheets against Pradeep Shukla, former principal health secretary of Uttar Pradesh, in connection in with its probe related to multi-crore National Rural Health Mission (NRHM) scam in the state.
Mr Shukla has been named as an accused in four FIRs that have been registered by the CBI in connection with the NRHM scam. The agency on December 3 had filed its first chargesheet against Mr Shukla in connection with its probe related to alleged irregularities committed in upgradation of modular operation theatres in several government hospitals in the state.
“Probe by the agency has revealed that Shukla, a 1981 batch IAS officer, in connivance with the then MD of Construction and Design Services of UP Jal Nigam, allegedly finalised at least seven contracts related to the NRHM”, sources said. The agency is now preparing to file at least two more chargesheet against him, sources added.
Probe by the CBI revealed that a senior employee of the Nehru Yuva Kendra (NYK) was allegedly working as a conduit of Mr Shukla, sources said. “The agency officials have already recovered seven property documents worth `5 crore from the possession of the NYK employee. Documents are being scrutinised also”, sources said. The agency sleuths had also recovered documents of a commercial property (worth `1.2 crore) owned by Mr Shukla during searches, they added.
The agency has arrested 10 persons in connection with the case.
