NSCN(I-M) interference in Manipur upsets MHA
The ministry of home affairs is seriously worried about the NSCN(I-M)’s direct involvement in the election process of Manipur.
Disclosing that the home ministry has taken up the issue very seriously, authoritative security sources in the home ministry told this newspaper on Tuesday that the proactive role of NSCN(I-M) cadres in 11 Naga-dominated constituencies of Manipur hills has become the major area of concern for the security forces. It is significant that the Naga People’s Front, the ruling party of Nagaland, has fielded 12 candidates in the hill districts of Manipur. In a related development, the powerful Naga apex body of Manipur has also “restrained” political parties from contesting in Manipur’s Naga-dominated constituencies.
