Nurse case: CBI searches MLA’s premises
The CBI on Wednesday conducted searches at the residential premises of Congress MLA Malkhan Singh in Jodhpur in connection with its probe related to Bhanwari Devi missing case. According to sources, searches were also
conducted at his business establishments in Jodhpur. Mr Singh, who is skipping questioning on health grounds for the past few days, is likely to appear before the agency on Friday.
The agency, on Tuesday, pasted a notice at Malkhan Singh’s house in Jodhpur for his appearance for another round of questioning. The MLA, in the notice, was asked to appear before the agency on Thursday. However, he moved an application in a local court in Jodhpur on Wednesday to seek further exemption from interrogation on health grounds till December 16.
Sources said, “Mr Singh is likely to appear before the agency on Friday. The agency has taken his skipping as an avoidance of the summons and if this happens again, the CBI will be forced to get an arrest warrant issued against him from the local court.” Sources added that the Amarchand, husband Bhanwari Devi, questioning has provided certain vital clues, which are being further verified. On the basis of revelations made by Amarchand, the officials want to question Malkhan again, sources added.
Meanwhile, a CBI court in Jodhpur on Wednesday extended the CBI custody of Amarchand till December 20. The agency sought extension of Amarchand’s custody citing his non-cooperation.
