Obama signs deals to create 54,000 jobs in US

US President Barack Obama is expected to announce trade deals worth $10 billion with India that are likely to create 54,000 jobs in America.

The President, who will address top Indian and American businessmen here on the first day of his three-day visit, is also likely to talk about easing export rules to make it simpler for American companies to do business with India.

The commercial deals include the purchase of 33 Boeing 737s by India's SpiceJet Airlines and plans to buy aircraft engines from US giant General Electric.

While most of these deals were pending for some time, but Mr Obama's visit is expected to conclude them. Easing of export rules could result in ending the technology denial regime against Indian entities such as DRDO and ISRO.
