Omar hails Kashmir cleric for meeting interlocutors
Chief minister Omar Abdullah on Thursday exhorted all the separatist leaders to follow Maulana Abbas Hussain Ansari’s lead to exhibit courage and come forward for dialogue — the only way out for resolution of Kashmir issue. He was talking to media on the sidelines of a function at Sher-i-Kashmir Police Training Academy at Udhampur.
“The way Maulana Ansari has shown courage for talks with the interlocutors, other separatist leaders should exhibit similar guts to enter into a dialogue. More so if all in Kashmir too say that gun is no solution to the problem. Then only way forward is the dialogue process and they should adopt this course for the lasting solution to this tangle,” he said.
“If they won’t be willing to talk, how can the forward movement be achieved on this account?” the chief minister questioned.
However on the issues of suspension of Maulana Ansari’s party from Hurriyat following his meeting with the interlocutors and suspension of 7 BJP legislators in case of cross voting on Legislative Council polls, he refused to comment. His one liner was, “I have nothing to say on this. This is their internal matter.”
On Wednesday, K-panel had met former Hurriyat chairman Maulana Abbas Ansari which invited the latter’s suspension from the moderate faction.
