Omar slams PDP on controversial map
After having a war of words with People’s Democratic Party (PDP) president Mehbooba Mufti for drawing parallel between Egypt protest and Kashmir summer unrest of 2010, chief minister Omar Abdullah on Sunday took a dig at her yet again asking why she was keen to gift away “part of J&K to the Communist regime in China.”
“The gifting of part of our state to some other country will be simply unacceptable to anyone and this is for the PDP to clear its stance on this issue (territorial status of J&K),” he stated.
He was responding to a query pertaining to a goof up vis-à-vis the map of J&K superimposed on foreign currency notes by the PDP in its Powerpoint presentation at Srinagar on Saturday showing “Aksai Chin” as part of China.
Mr Abdullah was interacting with the media on the sidelines of the police mela at Gulshan Ground on Sunday. “We want the borders and the LoC to become irrelevant where people can freely move from one part to the other. Given this scenario, the gifting away state’s part to some other country, I don’t think, will be acceptable to anyone. Here we’ve democratic regime in place, she should explain as why she wants to bring part of state under the Communist regime in China. Now it’s for the PDP to explain its stand on this issue,” he said.
