One arrested in Bhushan CD case
A day after the co-chairman of the Lokpal Committee, Shanti Bhushan, who is caught in a new CD controversy, filed an FIR under a cognisable offence at the IP state police station in Delhi, sources on Saturday pointed out that the Delhi police has made an arrest in connection with the case.
However, the senior Delhi police officers on Saturday refused to comment on the identify of the person arrested in the case. “An FIR of an alleged defamation has been filed and further investigations in the case are going on. The investigating officers are in the process of questioning some people,” said the PRO of the Delhi police, Rajan Bhagat adding that it is too early to comment further in the case.
The CD has audio clippings of a telephone conversation allegedly between Mr Bhushan, Mulayam Singh Yadav and Amar Singh about influencing a judge. The voice of a man purported to be Mr Bhushan suggests that a judge can be bribed. A voice, purportedly his, says his son, Prashant Bhushan, who is also a senior lawyer in the Supreme Court, can do this for four crores. Prashant Bhushan is also on the Lokpal drafting committee along with RTI campaigner Arvind Kejriwal and Anna Hazare.
Mr Prashant Bhushan said that while the voice on the CD may be his father’s, it needs to be tested at a forensic lab.
