One more accused arrested in 'moral policing' case
An accused, in a case relating to the lynching and subsequent death of a 26-year-old youth, was arrested today soon after his arrival at the International Airport here from Sharjah.
Police said they had prior information of the arrival of Fayaz Aboobacker (24), the fourth accused in the case.
He had left for Sharjah from Kochi on November 14, a day after the incident, police said. Aboobaker was detained by the emigration officials, who later handed him over to Koduvally police. So far 11 accused have been arrested in the case.
The youth, Shaheed, had been attacked by a group of persons who were not happy with his alleged illicit relationship with a woman at Kodiyathur village in Kozhikode. He had later succumbed to injuries.
The incident of 'moral policing' had sent shock waves across the state.
