Oomar takes a dig at rushdie protesters
Jammu and Kashmir chief minister Omar Abdullah on Tuesday chose to take a dig at those who protested over Salman Rushdie, the author of Satanic Verses, having been barred from speaking at the recently held Jaipur literary festival yet forced the Symbiosis College of Arts and Commerce, Pune to cancel a seminar on Kashmir.
“So the BJP champions authors’ right to speak freely and yet a university can’t discuss the Kashmir issue. Gotta love the hypocrisy,” Mr Abdullah tweeted. He was referring to the Symbiosis College of Arts and Commerce cancelling the screening of a documentary which was part of a seminar.
