‘Oommen Chandy insulted Ramesh Chennithala’
Thiruvananthapuram: The Congress high command’s diktat to its leaders to abstain from making public statements seems to have no effect. INTUC state president R. Chandrasekharan lashed out at Chief Minister Oommen Chandy alleging that he had insulted KPCC chief Ramesh Chennithala by denying him a chance to join the cabinet.
Since returning from Delhi on Saturday night, Chennithala has maintained that his popularity could never be dented. Chandrasekharan alleged that Chennithala had decided to stay away from the cabinet as he could understand Congress president Sonia Gandhi’s feelings.
He also claimed that Chandy had shown injustice to Chennithala. The state government was in a pathetic shape, he said. Incidentally, the INTUC leader too was in New Delhi when his leader Chennithala was there for talks with the Congress high command.

However, the Chief Minister refused to comment on Chandrasekharan’s allegations. Chennithala called on Speaker G. Karthikeyan on Sunday and discussed the current imbroglio the government and the party were in. Chennithala is expected to hold a ‘Meet the Press’ at the Press Club here, on Monday.Â
