Opp. to corner govt on Games in House
JD(U) president Sharad Yadav said the entire Opposition would corner the government on corruption in the Commonwealth Games in the coming Winter Session.
Mr Yadav said he was in touch with all parties and “the entire Opposition will speak in one voice”. He declared: “We will build full pressure.
Action should follow against all those involved. This government cannot escape. Games OC chief Suresh Kalmadi is not the lone culprit. There are other bigwigs involved in the loot.”
The JD-U chief said there is “no end to the tale of corruption” in the Games. He said while the Centre had “failed” to give money to Kosi flood victims in Bihar and refused to roll back the hike in petroleum prices, “`70,000-90,000 crores was wasted on this Games tamasha”.
He also attacked the government over the construction of Games Village flats. “What kind of deal it is that you buy land for Emaar, then give it money to construct flats and then also buy the constructed flats. What an absurd contract this is!”
