Opposition attacks Congress & Rahul
Gujarat chief minister Narendra Modi on Saturday became the latest detractor of AICC general secretary Rahul Gandhi for the latter’s alleged Hindu terror remark. Mr Modi, whom Rahul had called “an evil leader” and compared him with Mao Zedong, said that the Congress leader was responsible for the US’ support to Pakistan.
Former BJP leader Uma Bharti, meanwhile, said she was ready to play political guru to Mr Gandhi. “Instead of taking notes from Digvijay Singh, Rahul Gandhi should take lessons from me. He should stop making irresponsible statements against the RSS merely with the intention of getting Muslim support,” Ms Bharti said.
Attacking the Centre, the CPI(M) said the US diplomatic cables released by WikiLeaks have exposed the extent of US interference in India’s domestic affairs and the “complicity” of the Manmohan Singh government in furthering American “imperialist” interests.
