Order on Jagan assets soon
The process to attach properties of the Kadapa MP, Mr Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, and his firms —Jagati Publications, Indira Television and Janani Infrastructure — under the Criminal Law Amendment Ordinance, 1944, as reported in this newspaper on April 30, is set to get rolling with the government likely to issue an order to this effect shortly.
Another GO has also been prepared for attachment of properties of the industrialist, Mr Koneru Prasad, and the YSR Congress chief’s aide, Mr T. Sunil Reddy, in the Emaar township scam case, it is learnt.
The chief minister, Mr N. Kiran Kumar Reddy, and the home minister, Ms P. Sabita Indra Reddy, have signed the file regarding the GOs.
The home secretary, Mr Ajoyendra Pal, is learnt to have gone to Ms Sabita Indra Reddy’s house around 9.45 pm on Wednesday and got signatures on the two files. He later went to the chief minister and got the approval. The draft GO and files were then sent to the legal department.
“The GOs are yet to be issued,” Mr Pal said. “We have received certain proposals from CBI regarding attachment (of properties).”
The CBI had earlier written to the state government, seeking authorisation to file an application in the special CBI court for attachment of properties of those accused in Jagan assets case and Emaar township scam.
The CBI also mentioned that properties of Mr Jagan Mohan Reddy’s firms and that of Emaar accused persons are derived from crime proceeds.
