U.P. orders muslim count in civic bodies
In yet another attempt to appease the Muslims, the Akhilesh Yadav government has decided to conduct a head count of Muslim employees in local bodies and municipal corporations and increase their participation at senior levels.
In a letter sent to city commissioners and executive officials, the local bodies’ director has asked them to prepare and submit the list of minority officials and other employees posted in their respective areas.
This decision has been taken to ensure ‘increased participation of minorities at senior and responsible positions in the government’, a source said. The initiative for this was apparently take by senior Uttar Pradesh minister Mohd Azam Khan who is also the minority welfare minister. Mr Khan has been repeatedly airing his displeasure at the poor representation of Muslims in government jobs.
