ORF team to meet Praful on Mumbai airport
Observation Research Foundation (ORF) plans to take a delegation to the civil aviation minister Praful Patel on the issue of a second airport for Mumbai.
“Observation Research Foundation will take a delegation of eminent persons to the civil aviation minister Praful Patel to urge him to explore all possible options available for a second airport in Mumbai some time next week,” ORF’s chairman Sudheendra Kulkarni said on Sunday.
Besides the delegation plans to meet forest and environment minister Jairam Ramesh and representatives of political parties on the airport issue, over which both Mr Patel and Mr Ramesh have locked horns. The delegation will also meet CM Ashok Chavan, he said.
ORF has come out with a report on the proposed airport, which states that the site, because of its size, would not be sufficient to meet the future air traffic requirements of the city, besides highlighting environmental issues.
