Outfit under ceasefire behind Assam blast
In what has raised serious question over the policy of ceasefire with militant outfits, the police have found evidence of Adivasi Peoples Army’s involvement into the Sunday blast targeting a passenger train which had providential escape in western Assam’s Kokrajhar district.
The Adivasi Peoples Army, after assurance of the government to hold talks, had laid down arms in front of then home minister P. Chidambram on January 24, 2012 at an arms laying ceremony here. Inspector general of police G.P. Singh told this newspaper that investigation has confirmed the involvement of Adivasi Peoples Army, which claimed to have triggered of lethal IED blast on railway track to protest the arrest of its chairman, deputy commander-in-chief and two senior cadres.
