Oz firms to sue for CWG dues
At least four of Australia’s biggest event firms plan to slap a multi-million-dollar lawsuit against the organisers of the Delhi Commonwealth Games for non-payment of outstanding dues which they claim amount to $2 million.
The matter was also raised by Australian foreign minister Kevin Rudd during talks with external affairs minister S.M. Krishna, now visiting Austr-alia. Mr Krishna promised he would take up the matter with the sports ministry.
In New Delhi, meanwhile, the CWG organising committee said the bulk of payments to Australian firms had been made, but some amount was held back over “under-performance”. The firms include those which worked for the glittering opening and closing ceremonies.
