‘Pak committee won’t get access to Kasab’

The Pakistan judicial commission that will be coming to Mumbai on February 3 in connection with the November 26 terror attack will not be given any access to Ajmal Aamir Kasab — a fact that was confirmed by officials of the Mumbai police.
A top crime branch officer said that the commission would be allowed to record the statements of the officers who investigated the 26/11 attacks and the doctors who performed the post-mortem on nine terrorists who died in the incident.
The officer rubbished the speculation that the commission might get access to the lone surviving terrorist of the attack Ajmal Kasab.
Meanwhile, additional commissioner of the police Deven Bharti said, “They will be coming on the first week of February. However, their schedule has not been finalised yet.”
Another officer, meanwhile, said, “They will only have access to the doctors and the officers. There is no chance that they will get to speak to Kasab.”
The judicial commission from Pakistan is to take the statements of additional chief metropolitan magistrate R.V. Sawant Waghule and investigating officer Ramesh Mahale, who have recorded the confessional statement of Ajmal Kasab to pursue the case there During the home secretary-level talks in March last year, India had agreed to a Pakistani proposal to host a judicial commission of that country.
