Pak might misuse US aid: Antony

The government on Monday reiterated that there was every possibility of US aid to Pakistan being misused by Pakistan against India.
Defence minister A.K. Antony on Monday said, “We feel that there is every possibility of diverting this sophisticated equipment (provided by the US to Pakistan as part of the military aid) against India.

“He was speaking to reporters after laying a wreath at the Amar Jawan Jyoti in New Delhi on the occasion of Kargil Vijay Diwas to mark the 11th anniversary of the end of the Kargil conflict.
Just last week, Mr Antony had told the US chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Admiral Michael Mullen that the US aid to Pakistan was “disproportionate” and “expressed the apprehension” of India that the military aid could be misused against India.
The US is providing military aid worth billions of dollars to Pakistan for the battle against the Taliban militants in Pakistan.
Mr Antony also said, “We will strengthen our armed forces, whatever they may require to strengthen the Indian security apparatus so they can protect Indian territory.”
