Panic strikes docs as exam date clashes
Panic struck doctors who wished to appear for PG entrance examination after India’s two top institutes-All-India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) and PGI Chandigarh announced same date of their exam.
About 35,000 students sit and a similar number appear for the PGI Chandigarh exam. The premier institute-AIIMS conduct PG exam in 4 metros, PGI Chandigarh conducts its exam in Chandigarh only. However, this is for the first time that the dates for both the exam-November 18’2012 has clashed, leaving thousands of students in tizzy.
Fearing that they would certainly miss one of them, the clash is causing concern among students who have approached the health ministry asking to intervene in the matter. “This has never happened in the history before but due to the collision of both exams on November 18 we are in deep trouble. We will loose a chance to appear in one of the exam just because both the institutes did not take trouble in checking before notifying the date,” said a MBBS house surgeon, preparing for post graduation exam in MD/MS.
Aspirants say that they have prepared for the exam whole year and at the end will be barred from attending one.
Sources say that earlier AIIMS had published some other day, but then they changed the date, leading to the confusion.
