Parihar to follow in Anna’s footsteps
Former bandit queen and aspiring politician Seema Parihar will now follow in the footsteps of Anna Hazare.
Ms Parihar, who was recently appointed the head of the women’s wing of the National Corruption Eradication Council, plans to launch a public awareness campaign against corruption.
“I am starting the campaign from April 14 in Madhogarh in Jalaun district and we will make an effort to ensure justice for every person who is a victim of this corrupt system. People may have labelled me a dacoit but the politicians and bureaucrats of today are much bigger dacoits because they are looting the country,” she told reporters in Jalaun.
Ms Parihar, who got an image makeover after she participated in television reality show Bigg Boss season 4 in 2010, says that she is happy at being accepted into the social mainstream and now wants to work for the nation. “I picked up the gun because circumstances led me to the ravines. However, even then, I never troubled the poor or the needy. Dacoits have a heart because none of them have chosen their lives, they have been pushed into it,” she said. Ms Parihar said that she will travel across the state first and emphasise the need for eradicating corruption.
