Parties to Omar: Apologise
Hinting at the tough time ahead for the beleaguered CM Omar Abdullah following Durbar move in the winter capital, BJP and J&K National Panthers Party joined by other pro-Jammu parties, organisations and intellectuals on Sunday launched joint offensive against Mr Omar Abdullah for, what they alleged, “his separatist agenda.”
They even threatened to launch “Quit Jammu” campaign against him if he did not tender an apology for raking up controversy over accession of J&K.
United under the banner of J&K Peoples Forum to kick start the celebrations to commemorate 64th anniversary of Accession Day (October 26, 1947), the speakers cutting across political lines lashed out at the chief minister for his controversial statement on the accession of J&K with the Union of India. They warned him “playing with the sentiments of people of Jammu and Ladakh regions by competing with separatist leaders and speaking out in their language.”
“If the separatist leaders are running a Quit Kashmir campaign to unnerve and dislodge security forces from the Kashmir Valley, we will run a ‘Quit Jammu’ campaign against you if you will not tender an apology for raking the issue of accession of J&K...,” the speakers cautioned.

New Delhi
Oct. 24: The Delhi police has been directed by the ministry of home affairs to examine the video footage of a seminar for alleged seditious remarks made by Kashmiri separatist leader Syed Ali Shah Geelani and leaders of separatist movements of north eastern states of India, who were participating in the event held here last Thursday.
Delhi police spokesperson Rajan Bhagat said that the footage is being examined and proper action will be taken if anyone is found guilty. “We are in the process of reviewing the footage. It will take some time. No case has been registered so far,” Mr Bhagat said. The MHA had reportedly received an advise from its legal department that a case can be registered against Geelani and others for making “seditious” statements. The conference was attended by writer activist Arundhati Roy and pro-Maoist leader Vara Vara Rao among others.
