Paswan dares BJP on Bihar ties
Fishing into the troubled waters of ruling NDA alliance in Bihar, LJP chief Ram Vilas Paswan on Sunday dared the BJP to snap its ties with JD(U) over the “humiliating” treatment meted out to it by state chief minister Nitish Kumar.
“Nitish Kumar has humiliated BJP so much that if it has any self-esteem, it should immediately snap its ties with JD(U),” Mr Paswan, whose party is in alliance with the Lalu Prasad Yadav-led RJD in Bihar, said.
Adding further, Mr Paswan said, “After receiving so many blows, if the BJP leaders still say the alliance will continue, it means either this is a fake fight to address different vote banks or the BJP has literally become so dead in Bihar that it cannot react like a living entity.”
Questioning Mr Kumar move to return the relief money to Gujarat chief minister Narendra Modi, the dalit leader said that the money given for flood relief belongs neither to Mr Kumar nor to Mr Modi but to the people. He demanded a probe into the episode.
“Kumar should explain what money he is returning. The money was given to Bihar by Mr Modi government two years back for flood relief work. If it was not spent, then it is a crime. And if it was spent, from where is the money now being returned. Is it from the rightful share of dalits?” Mr Paswan questioned.
Mr Kumar had returned Rs 5 crores given by Gujarat to Bihar for Kosi flood relief. He was miffed at advertisements during the BJP national executive meeting by some youths thanking Mr Modi for the aid.
