Pattern of Malegaon, Modasa blasts same
The intelligence as well as investigative agencies are suspecting the role of Right-wing outfits in 2008 Modasa (Gujarat) blast case.
Sources in the Central agencies revealed that a team of investigating officials recently visited Sabri Dham, Saputara, in Dang district of Gujarat, where ashram of Swami Asimanand — the alleged mastermind of Ajmer and Malegaon blasts — is located, to ascertain the Swami’s role in Modasa blast also. Two persons were killed and eight others were injured in the blast that occurred on September 29, 2008 in Modasa.
“The National Investigation Agency (NIA) is investigating the Modasa blast case. A team of investigating officials recently visited Sabri Dham to inquire about the role of those involved in Ajmer and Malegaon blasts in the case. There is a possibility that investigating officials may question Sadhvi Pragya Thakur, prime suspect in Malegaon blast case, again in connection with Modasa blast,” sources added.
However, Gujarat police had reportedly given a clean chit to Pragya Thakur and her associates in the Modasa bomb blast case, sources added.
Sources further said, “Involvement of the same group involved in Ajmer and Malegaon blasts in Modasa blast is suspected because the pattern of the blasts was almost the same. In both Malegaon and Modasa, the minority population was targeted.” If required, the officials may question Devendra Gupta, prime suspect in Ajmer blast who was arrested by Rajasthan ATS, in connection with Modasa blast, sources added. The powder was used to trigger low-intensity blast in minority dominated area of Modasa town a few days before the Id, sources said.
