Pay more for lucky, VIP plates

Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh government has hiked rate of buying a lucky or VIP registration number for a vehicle.

"A notification for increasing the price has been issued on December 31," a senior Transport official told PTI.

With this, the price of VIP registration number has gone up by 50 per cent under all categories which have been renamed as - very attractive, very important, attractive and important costing Rs 15,000, Rs 7,500, Rs 6,000 and Rs 3,000 respectively.

Earlier maximum price was Rs 10,000, he said.

The price revision and regrouping of saleable numbers is expected to bring an additional revenue of Rs 5 crore to the state exchequer, the official said.
