Pay Rs 50 extra, get any time gas
New Delhi, July 13: Inflexible working hours of LPG or cooking gas supplier have always left working couples at the mercy of neighbours or watchman to take delivery of cylinder. But not anymore. According a new scheme launched by the petroleum ministry on Tuesday, consumers can get LPG cylinder at the time and the day of their choice by paying Rs 50 extra.
The additional charge, however, varies for different time slots. In metro, the consumer has to pay Rs 50, if he/she wants to get the cylinder delivered before 8 am or between 6 pm and 8 pm on any day of the week.
If he/she wants the delivery between 8 am and 6 pm, he/she has to shell out Rs 25.
Customers in other cities and towns, where the scheme is operational, would be charged Rs 40 and Rs 20 respectively.
If LPG dealers fail to deliver the cylinder at your preferred time, they will have to pay the customer a fine of Rs 20 and will not receive any extra money.
In the first phase, this service is being launched in Delhi, Gurgaon, Sonepat Noida, Faridabad, Ghaziabad, Pune and Bengaluru.
The other cities would avail this facility by the end of 2010.
“The new facility will be operational in Hyderabad after 15 days,” said V. Raju, Indane Gas dealer.
