PC admits lack of coordination
Home minister P. Chidambaram on Tuesday conceded that there may have been lack of coordination between the Delhi police and the Maharashtra ATS during the probe into the Mumbai serial blasts. He said the two agencies were working in their respective jurisdictions but were looking for the same person who has been on the run for many years.
Refuting suggestions of a “goof-up’’ which may have led to the escape of the prime terror suspect Yasin Bhatkal, Mr Chidambaram said that Bhatkal has been on the run for a very long time. Speaking at a press conference, Mr Chidambaram also denied suggestions that the Intelligence Bureau and the Delhi police tried to “discredit’’ the Maharashtra ATS after it arrested Naquee Ahmed for his alleged role in 13/7. “The person (Naquee) was indeed an informer. It might appear a bit anomalous that an informer is also a suspect but if you reflect carefully it’s not impossible,” he said.
