PC expresses concern over Sen wife fear
Expressing concern over recent statement given by jailed human rights activist Binayak Sen’s wife that she feels unsafe in the country, Union home minister P. Chidambaram on Tuesday said there was no reason why Ms Sen or any other member of her family should feel apprehensive in India.
Talking to mediapersons here, Mr Chidambaram said, “I am very sorry that she entertains such apprehensions. I intend to talk to the chief minister of Chhattisgarh in this regard. We must provide assistance to her”.
He further said, “If she has any genuine apprehension and if she wants assistance certainly, we will provide assistance. There is no reason why Ms Sen or any other member of her family should feel apprehensive in India”.
Ilina Sen, wife of jailed rights activist, recently claimed before media that it appeared that the only recourse left to her is to seek political asylum in some liberal democratic country as she felt that her family is not safe in her own country.
