PC hopeful of getting 26/11 info from Pak

New Delhi, July 24: Union home minister P. Chidambaram on Saturday said India is hopeful of getting “something” from Pakistan on the information provided to it last month on Mumbai attacks and “is willing to give it some time” in this regard.

Talking to reporters here Mr Chidambaram said, “We hope to get something from Pakistan. Let’s give them some time. It has been only a month since we have had formal contact.”

Replying to a question on India’s expectation from Pakistan with regard to the dossiers given to Islamabad to act against perpetrators of Mumbai attacks, Mr Chidaambaram said, “I travelled there only exactly four weeks back. Let us keep our fingers crossed.”

Mr Chidambaram held talks with his Pakistani counterpart Rahman Malik in Islamabad on June 25, during which he gave additional information on Mumbai attacks based on the revelations made by Pakistani-American LeT operative David Headley. Headley had told Indian investigators in Chicago that the ISI was involved in the planning of the 26/11 attacks from beginning to the end.

Asking Pakistan to act on dossiers provided by India, Mr Chidambaram during his meeting with Pakistani counterpart had pressed for action against suspect Mumbai terror mastermind Hafiz Saeed. Mr Chidambaram had said, “India has given enough dossiers to Pakistan and it is time for Pakistan to act and bring the perpetrators of the Mumbai carnage swiftly to justice.”

Headley also told his interrogators that the ISI had paid Rs 25 lakh to the LeT for purchase of a boat which was used by the 26/11 attackers to travel from Karachi to the Pakistani maritime boundary, where they hijacked an Indian fishing boat Kuber to reach Mumbai.

I want to begin with a little story that was told to me by a leading executive at Aptech. He was exercising in a gym with a lot of younger people.

Shekhar Kapur’s Bandit Queen didn’t make the cut. Neither did Shaji Karun’s Piravi, which bagged 31 international awards.
