PC: No term like Hindu terror
Union home minister P. Chidambaram on Tuesday said that there was evidence pointing to terror groups which are supported by extreme-right fundamentalist organisations in blasts at Ajmer, Malegaon and Hyderabad. The minister, however, clarified that there was no term like Hindu terror and said that “terror is terror”.
In an interview to a TV channel, Mr Chidambaram said, “You have the liberty and luxury to jump to conclusions. But sitting on this chair, I can’t. There is evidence pointing to terror groups which are supported by extreme-right fundamentalist organisations. We don’t call it Hindu terror. Terror is terror.”
He further said, “In this case, the groups seem to subscribe to extreme fundamentalist Hindu philosophy. We think there is evidence which connect the Ajmer blast, the Mecca Masjid blast, but not the Samjhauta Express blast yet. Investigative agencies are closely following the trail that we have discovered. They have made some arrests”. The investigation alone will show whether the dots are rightly connected or not, he added.

The Centre has issued alerts to all Naxal-affected states in the wake of the 48-hour bandh call given by the Maoists in five states from Tuesday.
Chhattisgarh is already on high alert as security forces on Tuesday intensified combing operations in the affected Dantewada region where 40 persons, including several Special Police Officers (SPOs), were killed when their bus in which they were travelling was targeted by Maoist on Monday.
Meanwhile, sources said the attack was discussed at a meeting held at the PMO on Tuesday.
However, they clarified that the meeting was held to discuss other issues, though the Maoist attack in Dantewada was also discussed.
