PDP voices concern over killings
With three more protestors shot dead on Saturday, Opposition Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) has voiced grave concern over continuing “bloodbath” in Kashmir. “Killings innocent people every day has become norm of the present dispensation headed by Omar Abdullah,” charged party president Mehbooba Mufti.
Ms Mehbooba, who was to address a press conference here but deferred it for a day, said in a statement that “uncontrolled killing of innocent people has exposed the fact that the government has become completely immune to the atrocities.”

Pak again criticises New Delhi
Islamabad : Pakistan again criticised the handling of protests in Jammu and Kashmir, saying India should introspect on its policies instead of blaming Islamabad for the violence in the Valley.
Reacting to India’s rejection of concerns expressed by foreign minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi on the situation in Jammu and Kashmir, Pakistan’s foreign office spokesman Abdul Basit on Saturday said India “should adhere to accepted human rights standards rather than stereotypically blaming Pakistan”.
Jammu and Kashmir is an “international dispute” and the “subject of several United Nations Security Council resolutions,” he said.

OIC invites Mirwaiz to NY meet

The Organisation Of Islamic Conference (OIC) has invited Jammu and Kashmir’s chief Muslim cleric and chairman of his faction of Hurriyat Conference Mirwaiz Umar Farooq to the foreign ministerial meet of the OIC contact group on Kashmir being held in New York soon.
The OIC contact group on Kashmir has besides Pakistan, Iran, Niger, Saudi Arabia and Turkey on it. The OIC secretary-general has also invited the Mirwaiz to the annual meeting of the OIC foreign ministerial group at the United Nations headquarters in New York, an spokesperson of the conglomerate said.

MSF halts activities in Valley

Increasing violence and a new round-the-clock curfew imposed last Sunday in almost entire Kashmir Valley and some parts of Jammu region have forced the international medical humanitarian organisation, Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) to halt its mental health activities in the Valley.
“This strict curfew is in place in several parts of the state. No person without a valid curfew pass is allowed outside their house. Sometimes, curfew passes are not honoured. Road blocks are numerous, the shops are closed and the streets are empty,” the MSF said in a statement here on Saturday.
