Pentad security rings to secure Obama
US President Barack Obama will be protected by pentad security rings comprising of US Secret Service agents, Central security forces and Delhi police commandos, making it literally impossible for unauthorised persons to even catch a glimpse of the President once after he lands in the national capital on Sunday.
The officials said Mr Obama and his 500-strong delegation will be protected by two rings of security formed by US Secret Service agents and other US agencies, who will be in touch through transmitters with Indian security agencies at the command centre located at Delhi police headquarters. “Three layers of security cover will be provided by us. The routes, which are yet to be finalised but many have been suggested, will be manned by sharp shooters at high rises and Delhi police and central security personnel will constantly patrol them from Saturday evening,” a senior security official said.
Mr Obama’s movements in the national capital will be continuously monitored and controlled through live video and audio feed received at the Command Centre set up at ITC Maurya in New Delhi where US security agencies have made elaborate arrangements. The Cadillac limousine, a highly sophisticated communication centre, which is part of Mr Obama’s fleet of cars, will update the centre about the movement of Mr Obama and his entourage as he moves from one place to another in the national capital. The police sources said the route leading to Humayun’s Tomb, where Mr Obama will pay a visit after he lands in the national capital followed by a visit to Rajghat to pay tributes to Mahatma Gandhi and some key intersections around Rashtrapati Bhavan.
