Pervez blames Indian official for Agra failure
Nine years after the failure of the Indo-Pak Agra Summit, the then President Pervez Musharraf has blamed one Indian official for it.
Mr Musharraf said that things were progressing fine during the summit meeting with then Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee till Vivek Katju, the then joint secretary in charge of Pakistan division in external affairs ministry, intervened. Mr Katju is currently secretary (West) in the ministry. “There was someone from the foreign ministry sitting there named Katju. He may still be there, he created a lot of hurdles,” the former Pakistani Army chief, who is living in exile in Britain and is currently in Dubai, told a TV channel.

PM-set panel on food security meets

Dec. 3: The high-powered panel formed by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to examine the financial implications of the National Advisory Council’s proposals on the food security bill is struggling to find ways to roll out the right to food legislation.
Sources said the problem before the panel, headed by C. Rangarajan, chief of PM’s economic advisory council, is to find ways to implement the Phase I of the proposed legislation.
In its recommendations to the Prime Minister’s Office, the NAC had suggested rolling out the phase I of the proposed legislation by April 1, 2011 and expand its coverage all over the country by 2014.

Lucknow gets 2 Ambedkar parks Dec. 6

Dec. 3: In what can be termed as total disregard for public criticism, UP chief minister Mayawati will inaugurate two more parks dedicated to the memory of late Dr B.R. Ambedkar, on the latter’s death anniversary on December 6.
The parks are in the vicinity of the sprawling Ambedkar memorial, near the Samajik Parivartan Sthal in Gomti Nagar locality.
One of the parks is spread over 23 acres of land and is the biggest in the state capital while the other measures around 22 acres. The parks will have musical fountains and four faced statues of Dr Ambedkar.

Youth held with bullets at Raipur airport

Dec. 3: A youth was on Friday arrested at the Manna airport here after six live bullets were found in his possession, the police said.
The ammunitions were found in his bag during a scan at the airport. The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), which is in charge of security of the airport, detained him and later handed him over to the Manna airport police.
“The youth — Khadak Raj Singh — a resident of Raipur, had booked his ticket to travel to Bengaluru in a private airlines flight to attend a marriage function there. He failed to produce valid papers for carrying arms.
He said the ammunitions may have been kept in his bag mistakenly”, Soumitra Sinar, in charge of Manna airport police station quoted the accused as saying.
“We have registered a case under various sections of Indian Penal Code (IPC) against him for illegal possession of ammunitions,” he said, adding, further probe was on to find out if the youth had any criminal intent.
