Phase 2 of Census begins with President
With enumerators seeking information about President Pratibha Patil, the second phase of Census 2011 began on Wednesday.
A Rashtrapati Bhavan spokesperson said the exercise began when a woman enumerator went to Rashtrapati Bhavan and collected information for a questionnaire from
the country’s first citizen on a “number of characteristics about the President’s personal household”. The President asked everyone to wholeheartedly support the Census operation.
She stated that it was an exercise on a gigantic scale taking it was a national duty.
The enumeration of the President took place in the presence of Union home minister P. Chidambaram, minister of state for home affairs Gurudas Kamat, Census Commissioner of India C. Chandramouli, along with director of Census Operation, Delhi, Varsha Joshi.
