Plan to ban ‘Gorkha police’

At the wake of the Darjeeling unrest, the state government is contemplating to ban the Gokhaland Personnel (GLP), which is an unregistered and unauthorised force. According to the home department sources, the state government is considering the matter very carefully as the move can have a number of ramifications to it.

Significantly, home secretary’s visit to the troubled Darjeeling on Tuesday is to look into the probability of it.It may be noted that GLP was constituted in 2007 with 6,000 officials.
