PM hits out at Punjab government
Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on Saturday said that Punjab has lost the status of “number one state” during the tenure of the SAD-BJP alliance government’s rule.
Addressing a rally in Amritsar Prime Minister said “Punjab is ruled by a government which does not do justice to the hard work and capability of the people here.” He said that the state has lagged behind neighbouring Haryana in development.
Dr Singh also said that there is electricity crisis in Punjab and the number of unemployed is rising.
He said that Punjab is facing power shortage and its small farmers are under debt.
Prime Minister has also charged the Akali-BJP alliance government of not giving proper attention to sectors of public health and education in the state.
