PM must show will, says Baba Ramdev
On the second day of his fast, yoga guru Baba Ramdev called upon Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to demonstrate political honesty and will in bringing back black money stashed away abroad.
Broadening his demands apart from the black money issue, the yoga guru raised the issue of farmer suicides and abolition of the Land Acquisition Act.
Serving an ultimatum of one more day to the government to respond to his demands on the black money issue, Ramdev said: “We have given our agenda. Now it’s time for the political parties to take a stand. Till they don’t, we will not leave from here.”
He said the UPA needs to tell the country its stand on black money and corruption. “We give them time till tomorrow,” he added.
He also stated that if the black money stashed abroad is brought people in the country would be empowered. “Terrorism and Naxalism in the country can be tackled if the government controls the flow of black money and the rising inflation,” claimed Ramdev.
Calling upon the government to disclose the amount of money stashed abroad, he said: “The government has the list of people who have stashed away black money in foreign shores. We do not want the names of those people, but at least disclose the amount at least.”
He asked what was the harm in disclosing the amount in question as per the list that the government has in its possession.
Explaining the benefits of bringing back the black money, he said: “India can become the superpower in the world and the Army can become more powerful than those in China and the US if the black money is brought back.”
