PM seeks support to fight Reds
New Delhi, Dec. 20: Terming Naxalism as a serious challenge for the country, the Prime Minister, Dr Manmohan Singh, asked for support from all political parties to tackle the menace.
Speaking at the Congress plenary session the Prime Minister stated that “to face the challenge of Naxalism, we need to rise above partisan politics and the Centre and the states have to work together.”
He stated that all possible help was being extended to the state governments to fight Naxalism.
Meanwhile, commenting on India’s ties with Pakistan, Dr Singh stated that friendly ties with Islamabad will only be possible when it ensures that its territory is not used for terrorist activities against India. He acknowledged that India desired good relationship with all its neighbours.
