PMO: Don’t inconvenience common man

Wiser perhaps on hindsight, the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) has issued directions on behalf of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh asking that the common man should not be inconvenienced on account of his visit to Chandigarh for Wednesday’s Indo-Pak cricket match.

The directions have probably come given that there have been complaints in the past about people being rushed to hospital not being able to reach on time owing to the traffic and security restrictions put in place for the Prime Minister’s movement.
One such incident had occurred in Chandigarh itself last year in November when a 32-year-old man could not get medical aid on time and died near the gate of a hospital in Chandigarh owing to the Prime Minister’s security arrangements.
In yet another instance of security arrangements for the Prime Minister allegedly claiming another life, eight-year-old Aman Khan had died in Kanpur with his parents alleging they could not reach him to hospital on time.
In the capital too, a family had claimed in December last year that their 46-year-old breadwinner died of a heart attack after they were unable to reach hospital on time owing to the police blockades in place.
