PMO: Ministers were not pulled up on Games work
Dismissing media reports that the Prime Minister Manmohan Singh had pulled up his Cabinet colleagues involved in the preparation of Commonwealth Games (CWG), the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) on Saturday said, Dr Singh has rather encouraged them by appreciating that “they have a difficult job at hand”.
Noting that nothing like that had happened in the meeting of Union Cabinet on Friday, the Prime Minister’s media adviser Harish Khare said, “The Prime Minister has seen the reports in a section of the media, which said, he had ‘pulled up’ the group of ministers (GoM) in charge of Commonwealth Games. Such reports are misleading.” Clarifying futher, Mr Khare said, instead, the Prime Minister had appreciated the difficult job the GoM has on its hand. “The Prime Minister has been encouraging the ministers and officials concerned to work together extra time to make the Games a success,” he added.
The PM’s media adviser was reacting to reports in the media that Singh had pulled up sports minister M.S. Gill and urban development minister S. Jaipal Reddy, who is also head of the GoM, for the preparations of the Commonwealth Games.
