Police arrests Owaisi in hate speech case
The Andhra Pradesh police arrested MIM MLA Akbaruddin Owaisi on Tuesday evening at Gandhi Hospital in Secunder-abad after doctors declared him “fit to speak and travel” and found nothing very wrong with his health.
Mr Owaisi was taken under tight security by car to Nirmal, escorted by the Task Force and AP special police. One of the notices served on him was by the Nirmal police. He is likely to be produced before a magistrate on Tuesday night by the Nirmal police. Mr Owaisi was arrested under non-bailable Section 121 of the Indian Penal Code (waging or abetting war against the government of India), and Section 153 A (promoting enmity between communities with hate speech).
