Police examining Arundhati Roy's speech
Srinagar: Police are examining the text of the speech delivered by Booker Prize winner Arundhati Roy at a seminar here to decide whether it 'merits legal action or not'.
In her speech Sunday, Roy had said that Kashmir was never an integral part of India and that British imperialism had been replaced by Indian colonialism in 1947.
"If legal opinion suggests registration of a case against her, we will definitely register a case," a senior police officer said here.
The seminar, 'Whither Kashmir? Freedom or Enslavement', was organized by Jammu and Kashmir Coalition of Civil Society. Many prominent writers and journalists read out papers at the seminar.
