Police files 30 FIRs over T-stir
The Hyderabad police has registered around 30 FIRs against protesters who took part in Sunday’s Telangana march, including organiser Prof. Kodandaram and others for violence on Necklace Road including attacks on eateries and stone-pelting at Telugutalli flyover and the incidents at Osmania University.
On Monday too, the situation was tense at OU as students clashed with the police while taking out rallies.
“So far, around 25 to 30 FIRs have been issued in both central and east zone police station limits. We have booked the organisers too who took permission for a peaceful march and then violated the conditions which led to law and order problems. They resorted to violence,” said commissioner of police Anurag Sharma.
Refuting reports that rubber bullets had been used on Sunday against the agitators, Mr Sharma said, “We haven’t used rubber bullets at any point of time. We maintained utmost restraint. “Around 40 different groups, organisations and parties took part in the rally. We are in the process of identifying those who resorted to violence.”
The cases have been booked for unlawful assembly, rioting, arson, mischief with fire, criminal conspiracy and in some cases, sections dealing with attempt to murder have also been included as several policemen, including IPS official Rajasekhar, were injured.
