Police finds abandoned bike
Raising hopes of an initial breakthrough into the bomb attack on the Israeli diplomat, the south district police on Wednesday recovered a red Pulsar motorcycle, similar to the one reportedly used in the incident. The vehicle was found abandoned in south Delhi’s Lado Sarai on Tuesday night.
The motorcycle, DL7ST 8352, was found abandoned near Gate No 2 of a DDA park by the police during routine patrolling. Although the investigators say it is too early to link the recovered motorcycle to the incident, a team of forensic experts examined the site and lifted some fingerprints found from the motorcycle that have been sent for examination.
The investigations so far have revealed that the abandoned motorcycle is not a stolen one and was purchased by one Rajiv Maggo, a resident of Satya Niketan in Moti Bagh in 2006, who sold it to a Gurgaon resident Abhishek Shoukeen in 2008. The antecedents of Abhishek have not been ascertained so far and this is where the investigations have hit a roadblock. Sources said the motorcycle has exchanged four owners since it was purchased.
The police is, however, relying on one unique feature of the motorcycle which can establish whether the motorcycle was used in Monday’s bomb blast or not. “The rims of two tyres of the abandoned motorcycle are painted red. Although, the CCTV footage obtained from certain locations around Aurengzeb Road has not recorded the registration number of the vehicle as they are positioned perpendicularly to the passing traffic, it can be determined whether the motorcycle had similar rims or not,” a source said.
